“JOURNEY by FIRE” – Stage 3 – ‘R’ of FIREWe praise the Lord for the completion of the first cycle of ‘Growing RICE’ which is our Mission Statement. This is the reason for our existence and it is based on the Biblical foundation of The Great Commission (Mt.28:18-20) and The Great Commandment (Mk.12:30-31).RICE is… reaching, integrating, community, empowerment- the basics of an intentional disciple making church.
As we ‘Journey on’ the next cycle, we trust the Lord to guide us by FIRE. FIRE is a metaphor for God (Is.33:14-16; Heb.12: 28-29) and when God’s people were in the wilderness, they were guided by a pillar of Cloud by day and a pillar of Fire by night (Ex.13:21; Neh. 9:19). They were totally dependent on God in their Journey to the Promise Land. FIRE is the symbol of His Empowering Presence with His people.
In the same way, we look to God to lead us forward by His FIRE for the next 4 years. FIRE stands for
FIRE is ‘Back to the Basics’ of Spiritual Disciplines of Prayer, Scripture, Service & Ministry & our relationship with the three persons of the Trinity.
In 2012, at Stage 3, our Priority is on ‘Renewed by the Spirit’ and the preaching & teaching ministry will focus on our relationship with Holy Spirit, the 3rd person of the Trinity. The key guiding text is from Zechariah 4:6 – ‘Not by might nor by power but by the Spirit.’ It reminds us of our dependency on the Holy Spirit in our discipleship & ministry. May He generously endow us with all His spiritual gifts and may we exhibit His fruit in our life & ministry.
We pray that you will JOIN US in this ‘Journey of Renewal through the Living Spirit.’ What a tremendous privilege and honour to be on this Journey empowered & renewed by the Spirit.
