“JOURNEY by FIRE” – Stage 4 – 2013We praise the Lord for the completion of the first cycle of ‘Growing RICE’ (2005-08) which is our Mission Statement. This is the reason for our existence and it is based on the Biblical foundation of The Great Commission (Mt.28:18-20) and The Great Commandment (Mk.12:30-31).RICE is… reaching, integrating, community, empowerment – the basics of an intentional disciple making church.
As we ‘Journey on’ the next cycle, we trust the Lord to guide us by FIRE. FIRE is a metaphor for God (Is.33:14-16; Heb.12: 28-29) and when God’s people were in the wilderness, they were guided by a Pillar of Cloud by day and a Pillar of Fire by night (Ex.13:21; Neh. 9:19). They were totally dependent on God in their Journey to the Promise Land. FIRE is the symbol of His Empowering Presence with His people.
In the same way, we look to God to lead us forward by His FIRE for the next 4/5 years. FIRE stands for
FIRE is ‘Back to the Basics’ of Spiritual Disciplines & our relationship with the three persons of the Trinity.
In 2013, at Stage 4, our priority is on ‘Empowered by God to serve in the church & his world’. The key texts guiding us are – Eph.4:12-13& 1 Pet.4:10-11. The ascended Christ gives us leaders to ‘prepare God’s people for works of service …to become mature …attaining …the whole measure of the fullness of Christ and each one should use whatever gift he has… to serve others with the strength God provides so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. Our ‘diakonos /ministry/service’ is the outflow of our relationship with the Father, Jesus & the Holy Spirit. Our ministry is whole life (24/7) and a lifetime service. It is a personal, church & community transformation. We pray that you will JOIN US in this ‘Journey of Empowerment to Serve’ God, one another & the world wherever He places us at home or at work. What a tremendous privilege and honour to be partners with Christ in ministering to a lost & needy world (John 15:15). |
